On the marked trail, No. 132, we hike over grassy slopes on the orographically left side of the valley on the connecting path to the Adolf Pichler Hütte/Starkenburgerhütte. At the third junction, we leave the high trail and ascend steeply in small switchbacks to the uppermost part of the Viller Grube. Over a small scree slope, we continue upwards to the Horntaler Joch. From here, we reach a marked path over the northeast ridge to the frequently visited summit.
